Couples Therapy

Outside of imagination, there are no relationships that are conflict free.

Couples therapy is a fantastic way to increase trust, expand communication and raise intimacy. Present in every relationship is the wants and needs of individuals, as well as essentials of the partnership and it’s sometimes to difficult to navigate these dynamics in ways which are complementary.

Often people in relationships enter this type of therapy wanting to know whether they want to continue in the relationship.

  • Couples sessions, for people twenty years of age and over are available.
  • Sessions are conducted in person, at a therapy room in Wellington CBD.
  • Each session lasts for 50 minutes face to face time, which allows for 10 minutes notes, reflection and further treatment direction planning. That’s not to say you and your needs won’t occasionally be considered at other times, however this is the allocated time to allow for consistent treatment.

While frequency varies, there is a requirement of attending a minimum of one session per week and many clients attend two times per week. Occasionally things occur (public holidays, vacations, illness) that make attending some sessions not possible.  However, it is important that there be regular attendanceTherapy is more than a weekly 50-minute session with a therapist. Significant insights for both clients and therapist can occur between sessions when problems explored in the session continue to be thought about independently during the week.

Couples therapy is available in-person, and sessions are held on The Terrace, Te Whanganui-a-Tara/Wellington.
